🎮 My time with game development

Starting at 2009, at the age of 8, a cousin introduced me to a game made with M.U.G.E.N., which I would later find out it was a 2D fighting game tool. I played around, making a pathetic character, dreaming of releasing a game with it, although I didn’t understand what the “non-commercial” part meant. Around 12, I discovered GameMaker through a fan game but didn’t dive beyond the first tutorial. I would have a similar experience with Unity later on. At 15, I explored Unreal Engine mainly for its graphical capabilities and avoided programming. Despite being interested in languages like C++, trying to understanding it was too much for me at the time.

I graduated high school at 17 and started game development college. Learning to use programming languages like C was inevitable and most projects there used either Construct 2 or Unity. One year later, I found myself migrating to open-source alternatives and discovered that Godot, a game engine I was aware of since 2017 but wasn’t popular, was one of them. Believing it would get massively adopted with time like Blender (which was correct), I decided to learn it.

For the college’s final project (technologist graduation lasts 2-2.5 years ), I teamed up with a classmate for a mobile game project inspired by Zelda 2. We would later work together on a game jam, where I also tried something new: music. Later, I went solo for another jam, handling everything from art to music. I also created my own font for a personal project. All of them can be found in my itch profile .

In 2022, I got hired for a game dev job after months searching (mid-pandemic), initially excited but months later feeling drained due to long commutes and job monotony, to the point I started to think about ending things. This led me to look for a freelance opportunity, which made me change jobs. I worked as a freelancer until October 2023 when the project we’ve been working had to go into a pause. It was during the break after that created this website to use as an introduction.

🏁 Goals

I mentioned a personal project in the previous section. It’s a game idea I’ve began planning since 2016 and changed drastically with time, one of the first versions being used in my college project. It’s far from being finished but I still have hopes.

Above that, I just want to attain a financial stability and live a life with minimal concerns.

📚 Philosophy

Always aim for quality over quantity. I believe in taking the time for open discussions to refine ideas rather than hastily reaching conclusions. Effective management plays a crucial role in achieving successful outcomes.
